Sentence Builder is a Persian sentence-building game for primary school, grade 1 through grade 6. Scrambled word cards sit at the bottom of the screen, and the child arranges them in the right order in the sentence above; if the order is wrong, only the misplaced cards bounce back. From grade 2, the child also picks the right end-of-sentence mark, and in "Sentence Doctor" they find the extra or wrong word.

Sentence Builder — an educator's view

Sentence-building is a bridge between reading words and understanding a text. In this game, word cards are scrambled, and the child has to arrange them into a correct Persian sentence. Grade 1 has short sentences like "Dad gave water"; grade 2 adds the marks «. ? !» and "Sentence Doctor", who finds the extra word in a sentence; and higher grades practice adjectives, the object marker «را», subject and predicate, verb tenses, and negative and subjunctive sentences.

A feel for grammar

As the child moves cards around until the sentence "sounds right", they indirectly absorb the rules of Persian syntax: where the verb sits, that an adjective follows its noun, and that «را» comes after the object. This grammatical awareness later makes understanding a text easier.

Holding a sentence in mind

To arrange a six- or eight-word sentence, the child has to hold the whole sentence's meaning in mind while picking the next card at the same time. This is the same working memory needed for reading and understanding long sentences.

Editing and self-review

"Sentence Doctor" moves the child from reader to editor: they have to find the word that doesn't belong or a verb that doesn't agree with the subject. This habit of rereading and correcting is a first step toward writing a tidy, readable composition of their own.

Correct pieces stay put

If the order isn't right, only the misplaced cards wobble gently and bounce back, while the rest stay in place. The child sees what they got right and only has to fix a small part; this kind of feedback keeps the motivation to keep going alive.

A tip for parentsAt the dinner table, say a simple sentence but deliberately scramble its words, like "went we park to yesterday". Ask the child to be "Sentence Doctor" and fix it, then have them scramble a sentence of their own for you.
